US-89, 300 North Kanab to Kanab Creek Bridge, Kane County, Utah

SUE Solutions contracted with H.W. Lochner, Inc. and UDOT Region Four to conduct Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services for the US-89, 300 North Kanab to Kanab Creek Bridge project located in Kane County, Utah. This project had been “on hold” since 2007, and since that time, “new” utilities have been installed within the project corridor. SUE Solutions scope of work focused specifically on those “newly installed” utilities. SUE Solutions conducted intensive research of existing utility owners and their respective mapping, comparing them to the original utility sheets completed in 2007. Upon completion of the research, it was determined that a new 24 inch culinary water line, a new 18 inch culinary water line, and a new fiber optic facility had been installed and not reflected within the project’s existing utility sheets. SUE Solutions successfully completed over 22,000 lineal feet of SUE Quality Level B designating. At the completion of the QL-B activities, eight (8) critical utility conflict locations were identified by H.W. Lochner, where SUE Solutions successfully completed SUE Quality Level A potholing activities at those eight (8) locations. SUE Solutions coordinated the survey activities regarding the SUE QL-B and QL-A activities with UDOT survey crews. The SUE Quality Level B and Quality Level A tasks were completed January 2013, ahead of schedule and under budget.
